Running UserMatic™ directly from a USB flash drive
First, COPY the UserMatic™ application to your
USB drive.
Then:
- RUN UserMatic™ directly from the USB drive.
- Go to UserMatic's Preferences, and
"Customize" that machine to look for its
data on the USB drive as well. [It
defaults to the top level of the drive, which is
fine; but if you have a specific subfolder in
mind, navigate to that subfolder instead.]
Press Return to "Select" that location. - Launch Final Cut Pro if need be, do whatever
customizing you like, and then Quit FCP.
Come back to UserMatic™ and Store / Recall your Preferences data, etc., as you normally would. - When you're through, QUIT UserMatic, and EJECT the USB drive (using the Finder).
Once you've told each machine to look to the USB drive for its UserMatic™ Library data, you should be able to access the same User Profiles data from each workstation from your USB drive.
Just make sure you RUN UserMatic *DIRECTLY* from the USB drive from now on.
Note 1: If UserMatic™ is ever run from the hard drive instead of the USB drive, it may revert back to looking for its data on the hard drive as well. If that should happen, simply mount the USB drive & run UserMatic™ from there; go into UserMatic's Preferences, and Customize for that machine again as above.
Note 2: The UserMatic™ software is still licensed on a per-system basis, so you will only have access to the full Library of user profiles on licensed machines. However, unlicensed systems can still access a limited number of those profiles, and so this may nevertheless be adequate. Please consult the FAQ (and User Guide) for details.
